“The Traitors” is among the fastest-growing reality show formats in the world, with more than 35 local versions across 30+ countries. In addition to blockbuster success in India, a deal has been signed for a Korean version with Luyworks Media and Something Special.
In June this year, Prime Video renewed “The Traitors India” for a second season two weeks after the global release of season one. All3Media and Prime Video said the show had by June been watched by viewers across 88% of India’s pin codes.
Making the announcement, Prime Video India director and head of originals, Nikhil Madhok, said the series was “a true breakout” and a “marquee title that pushes the boundaries of the reality genre”. He said season two would “take the experience to the next level.”
The India production – the first adaptation of the global format in Asia – is a collaboration with indie distributor All3Media International.
Set against the majestic backdrop of a palace in Suryagarh, Rajasthan, and hosted by Karan Johar, “The Traitors – Season One” brings together 20 personalities from across the entertainment spectrum, including Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elnaaz Nourouzi and Harsh Gujral.
