ContentAsia PREMIERES ⭐️ @ Eslite Art House

The premiere of “Unforgivable” + Q&A with executive producer, Doreen Yap.

In the dark alley behind a seedy brothel, 10 year-old Gao Shuya was nearly abducted by a patron of the brothel owned by her father. Police officer Wu Yingqiu saved her from the clutches of the perpetrator, changing her life forever.

Fast-forward to modern day, Gao Shuya (played by Jesseca Liu) is the newly appointed head of the Sexual Offence Department (SOD), set up by none other than Wu Yingqiu (Zhu Hou Ren), who had taken Shuya under his wing. SOD was formed to combat the growing frequency of sex-related crimes. The team faces immense pressure as their every move and decision comes under under public scrutiny. Failure is unacceptable.

Every member of the unit has joined for different reasons. They include human rights activist Lin Yifan (Shane Pow); cynical Guan Lin (Hong Ling) who put her father in a jail; Li Junhao (Gavin Teo), who has a ticking bomb in his body; and a veteran named 55. While Shuya appears to be the best person to lead this unit, she is unaware that her childhood memories are still haunting her deep down and risk resurfacing as she investigates each crime.

Together, they unravel the truth behind each case, from domestic sexual violence, a castrated victim, sexual abuse of and by the elderly, BDSM game gone wrong and attempted rape homicide, to the most heinous serial child rapist. It becomes apparent that some perpetrators were once victims themselves, creating a vicious cycle of harm. Why do people commit such monstrous crimes? What is the psychological depravity that leads to their actions?

The team continues to seek answers as they defend and speak up for the victims.
